DSL THERMOSTATS A
very intelligent digital thermostat controls your Hydro-Temp
To Set the Thermostat for Cooling:
First press the mode button until the thermostat is in the cool mode.
After 3 seconds, you will see the current room temperature, with the snow flake
underneath. Now press the temperature up or temperature down button to
set the desired cooling temperature. (Temperature you wish your home to be) For
example, a common setting is around 75ºF.
After 3 seconds, the display will change back to reading the current room
temperature and the system will be ready to cool your home to 75 ºF.
When the system is running cooling your home, you will see the snow flake
flashing.
A time delay of 5 minutes may effect the starting or stopping of the
system each time the thermostat is adjusted.
To Set the Thermostat for Heating:
First press the mode button until the thermostat is in the heat mode.
After 3 seconds, you will see the current room temperature with the flame
underneath.
Now press the temperature up or temperature down button to set the
desired heating temperature. (Temperature you wish your home to be) For example,
a common setting is 72ºF.
After 3 seconds, the display will change back to reading the current room
temperature and the system will be ready to heat your home to 72ºF.
When the system is running heating your home, you will see the flame symbol
flickering. A time delay of 5 minutes may effect the starting or stopping of
the system if the thermostat is adjusted.
Automatic mode:
Now that you have the heating and cooling set points set to 72ºF in heat and
75ºF in cool you may chose to set your DSL thermostat in the auto mode. This will turn your system on or off automatically in heat or
cool, which ever is needed. This
setting is ideal in the spring and the fall of the year when you need heating in
the mornings and cooling in the evening. CAUTION: in some homes the automatic mode may cause "see sawing" this
occurs when a unit constantly switches from heating to cooling and then back.
For this reason, we recommend that the Hydro-Temp unit be placed in either the
heating or cooling mode.
E HT mode:
This symbolizes the emergency heat mode.
You should never set your DSL thermostat to the emergency heat mode unless your
system is kicking the breaker. If
the heat pump is not heating it will be shut off by internal protection switches
and will automatically turn on the strip heat.
(Some DSL thermostats will not have this function)
Day/Night Setting:
The DSL can have a day setting and a night setting.
To set this up first put the DSL thermostat in the day mode. You will see a symbol of a Sun under the current room
temperature and under the flame or snowflake.
If you are in the night mode you will see a moon under the flame or snowflake,
you can press the day/night button to switch to the day mode.
Follow the steps for setting the heating and cooling set points.
Then press the day/night button, switch to night, and set the heating and
cooling set points for the night.
After you have set the day and night set point temperatures, your DSL thermostat
is ready to go. It is a manual
change over type of thermostat.
When you wish to switch to the night setting press the day/night button.
In the morning, you will need to press the button again to switch to the
day setting. (If you wish to keep the temperature the same 24 hours a day we
recommend just setting the day setting and not ever switching back and forth.)
Fan button:
The fan button is used to turn your fan on continuously.
When the fan is selected to run continuously the fan symbol will be on at the
bottom of the display screen. This
is used to circulate the air or to clean the air with an electrostatic air
filter.
Red Light on Top:
The red light on top of the thermostat indicates that the aux. Heat is being
told to turn on. This red light
will turn on at times even though there is no aux. Heat available on the unit,
or if the breaker is off to the aux. Heat. Outdoor button: The outdoor button is utilized to read the optional outdoor sensor. This is useful to read the out side temperature. If this option wasn't purchased and no sensor is attached you will only see two dashes.
Wrong Room Temperature Displayed: The DSL thermostat is factory calibrated and should never need recalibration. What we have noticed when it is reading the wrong room temperature is normally a false reading from air drafting through the hole behind the thermostat that the wire is ran through. In most all cases this can be resolved by removing the thermostat from the base and applying silicone over the hole behind the thermostat base. This seals the thermostat from air drafting through the hole the wire was ran through. Often times we hear of the thermostat reading the correct temperature until the system starts, then the wrong temperature is displayed. The silicone in the hole will fix this problem also.
